SECURITY applications

This topic is in the Low Cost Info area also. The importance of an "Arsenal" Approach to Security cannot be over emphasised.

It's unfortunate but, there is no single application or even a suite of security applications that can protect your computer at all times. You must embrace the "Arsenal" approach for security. You should have one good Anti-Virus application and two or more Anti-Spy/Ad/MalWare applications too. Even then, it takes just moments for an infection to sneak in between updates.

YOU CAN DO THIS ON A BUDGET TOO! Select one good Anti-Virus application - Remember, you should not have two Anti-Virus applications running at the same time because they may work against each other. Select two or three Anti-Spy/AdWare applications. Keep them all up-to-date! Here's a couple of excellent sources for current information about what's SAFE to use and Recommended by Professionals:

The AV Comparatives Organization: On this site you will find independent comparatives of Anti-Virus software. They periodically test and review the best Anti-Virus applications. NOTE: Even the ones that rate lower on the tests are excellent and some are FREE applications too!

There are many FREE Security Applications that are effective if you keep them Up-To-Date!

FREE Anti-Virus applications include Avast and AVG among others. They alway rate well in the Comparitives, even compared to applications you have to pay for.

The FREE SuperAntiSpyWare arrived on the scene in early 2008, is effective and looks at some MalWare hidding places often missed by the other security applications. TIP: Each time you manually update the FREE version, there will be an unobtrusive NAG - Pay attention to the NAG - You may get the Paid Professional version for as little as $4.99!

The Old Standby FREE Anti-Spy/AdWare applications are, of course, AdAware and SpyBot Search & Destroy. Be sure to download them from a SAFE Place, Like the C/Net. TRAP: Watch out for IMITATIONS!!! There are lots of Imitators out there like "AdWare Live" which is full of SPYWARE!!
Notice the SPELLING to make it look like AdAware - "Ad Ware" instead of "Ad Aware".
